Stopped here for a break from 4th of July weekend traffic and what can I say its a solid authentic Mexican place. I got the Enchiladas Rancheras and if you love cheese on cheese on cheese, than this is the dish for you. Honestly it was really good, reasonable prices and how can you go wrong with the complimentary chips and salsa

I went here for a birthday dinner with my in laws and it was pretty good. The staff was very accommodating and let us have decorations and outside desert which was nice. The food was good, reminds me of El Loro, but I have to say the atmosphere is a little calmer and not as loud. If we're ever in the area again we'll stop by for sure.

Food is above average. Margaritas are below average but nice Mex beer selection. Salsa is basically tomato sauce but ask for the spicy stuff. Service has always been good, even when busy (most meal times).

When I moved to Elk River I was happy to find this Mexican restaurant close by. Great food and great service! They give you free chips and salsa right away and the salsa is very good. I love their burritos and chimichangas. Both items are big enough to share. They also offer the delicious white cheese dip that most Mexican restaurants have. You can't go with the cheese dip! Highly recommend and family friendly.

I am sure for the people of Elk River that don't know much about Ethnic food, this if good enough for Mexican food, just read other reviews; however, this place is not good Mexican food, it is no better than Taco Bell or Taco John's.

Just moved to Elk River last fall. The boy and I tried this place and were IN LOVE! Definitely our favorite spot in town! We get the "Fajitas for 2" (more like for 4! We always have left overs.) They are generous with all the meat too--unlike other places that give you less of the expensive kind, (shrimp, steak, etc.) The salsa is delicious as well and they re-fill your chips/salsa without you having to ask. Good selection of wines as well. Awesome prices and great staff!

Overall, our experience was average. The food was average, the drinks average, the service on the other hand....really, really good. They do not take American Express. Lupe was our server and she was absolutely fantastic. Actually we felt the rest of the staff was very good, too. For our kids, we ordered chicken strips and fries. They initially brought them a salad with chicken strips on top. Lupe was at our table when the food came out and she immediately picked up on the issue. They sent it back and came out with the strips and fries right away. I ordered the Chimichanga and my wife the Chile Verde. We both thought they were good, but nothing special. I ordered a margarita. It was made with Jose Cuervo and what I think was Jose Cuervo mix. The price was good for the size, but I found the drink about the same that I could make at home. If it wasn't for Lupe, we may have rated our experience a bit lower. If I could recommend another Mexican restaurant in the area, I would suggest Guadalajara in Rogers. The food is better, drinks better, service on par or maybe a tab better.

I was so happy to see a Mexican restaurant in ELK RIVER!! The food is authentic as I know (recently went to Cabo and its tastes like that but not sure if Cabo is authentic anymore) I am stuck always getting the Chicken fajitas because I LOVE LOVE the sauce. I do steal from my husbands or childrens plate to get a taste of what other options they have though and they are YUMMY! Chips and salsa are brought to your table right away - and the service is great! On a side note -The location is not the best but I am glad to see that business' around it are not loosing out because Target left! Parking is a little scary during winter and watch out trying to get out people turn into that area like bats out of HE-double hockey sticks!

I was pleasantly surprised by this place. A lot of times when you're further away from the cities these types of places seem to lose their ethnicity, but not this place. Stopped in here yesterday for the first time and the service and food were great. I ordered a carnitas burrito and the seasoning they used on their meat was about as good as it gets, the flavor just exploded in my yapper. It seems that a lot of places don't use enough seasoning but that was not the case here. My wife ordered the chicken chimi and that was excellent as well. They have some really good lunch deals/combinations and the free chips and salsa are better than a lot of other places. My only complaint is that you usually get rice and beans both with your meal at any other Mexican restaurant, but here you get rice or beans. So I had to order the other as a side dish and I think it cost a whole dollar, O-Well, this won't stop me from coming back in the future. They also served me about the strongest margarita that I've ever had, I really appreciated that. Two people can easily eat here for under $20, Elk River really needed a place like this. I cannot wait to come back here and test out more of the menu and drink some more of them bad ass margaritas!

We have been here twice. The first time it was great-great server/great food. So we went back again. The second time was not so good. Why? The service sucked. We had a waitress named Lupe on 4/17/13. She didn't even tell us she was our waitress (we thought she was the hostess just grabbing drinks for us- she didn't even say hello), she seemed very uninterested in being there. It was very awkward dealing with her- she never smiled at us once. What sucked? We watched the people next to us get great service from the guy server we had the first time. The bright side? The food has always been great- aside from the fried ice cream which did not seemed to be fried (we've had many times before at other restaurants so we know what we are looking for).

The food here was very good. The service was great, the food came out fast and the prices were fair. It had a similar atmosphere to Acapulco.

Legit Mexican food from a fast, friendly, Spanish speaking staff is nearly impossible this far north. Fear not, this is good food, reasonably priced, and NOT TACO BELL. thank goodness for that last fact. It's as close as you'll get to real tex-mex and not be in San Antonio

Mucho Loco is not loco at all, quite reasonable actually. :) As good as strip-mall Mexican food gets. Bottle of Negra Modelo, lunch sized chicken fajitas, eleven bucks, and I'm still full three hours later. Prompt, pleasant service and above-average food. I will return to try the chile relleno, which is my benchmark food at these types of places, but all early indications are that it is the best choice in town. I have been to the other place in Elk River, can't even remember the name, but it was on the offensive side of unremarkable.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
